A real life recreation of Shrek’s Swamp has been created in the Scottish Highlands.
STV was given an exclusive look inside Airbnb’s new listing which brings the Dreamworks ogre’s home to life.
Ogre enthusiasts will know the appeal of a “mud-laden”, “moss-covered” and secluded home all too well.
Now, with the help of a meticulous set designer, they can live out their onion layered dreams.
This Halloween Airbnb-verified host Donkey is “housesitting “swamp-sitting” for his best pal, Shrek and sharing the home with fans.
The location is kitted out with “nice boulders”, “beware ogre” signs, and even an outhouse 20 meters from the front door.
Inside the house fans will get to see some iconic pieces from the film including Shrek’s “martini” with an eyeball twist.
The dining space will also give you the chance to enjoy dinner by earwax candle.
“Shrek’s Swamp is lovely,” Donkey writes, “Just beautiful. The perfect place to entertain guests.
“You know what I like about it? Everything. The overgrown landscaping, the modest interiors, the nice boulders, all of it. I can’t wait for guests to experience this muddy slice of paradise for themselves.”
Located in the grounds of Ardverikie Estate, where TV show Monarch of the Glen was filmed, the fairytale stay has an even more magical price tag in that it will cost you nothing.
How to stay at Shrek’s Swamp
If you missed the initial announcement, fear not, there is still time to be in with the chance of bagging a two-night stay.
All you have to do is request to book the listing and wait for an email to confirm you’ve been chosen.
Ogre enthusiasts can request to book the fairytale stay in Shrek’s Swamp beginning October 13 at 6pm.
The stay will take place from Friday, October 27, to Sunday, October 29, and will accommodate up to three guests.
A spokesperson for Airbnb said: “The host is expecting this listing to be very popular, so to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to book, guests must request to book the one-time stay.
“Please do note that this exclusive two-night stay is not a contest.”
