A man lost 3,500ft up a mountain with a map but no compass was rescued by Cairngorms Mountain Rescue on Thursday.

The 67-year-old was close to the summit of Carn Ban Mor in Glen Feshie when weather conditions started to deteriorate.

Thick cloud cover, rain showers and wind across the tops caused him to become disorientated.

As a result, the man contacted the team for assistance getting off the mountain.

Cairngorms Mountain Rescue later located the man “safe and well”.

A spokesperson said: “Team located him a bit cold but in good spirits and were able to evacuate him to our waiting vehicles.”
