An Inverness social care worker has been struck off after stealing over £6,000 from their employer.

Kevin Jamieson was found to have failed to deposit income collected from sheltered housing locations.

At the time, Jamieson was working for the Highland Council as an assistant tenant services officer.

The offences were found to have taken place between May 2016 and October 2018. Overall money totalling £6,129.90 was reported missing.

There were 19 separate occasions when money, ranging from around £80 to £600, failed to be deposited.

A report by the Scottish Social Services Council found that as a result Jamieson’s fitness to practice was impaired.

The council stated that social care workers “are expected to be truthful, open, honest, and trustworthy” and that the theft was “fundamentally incompatible” with remaining on the register.

It was highlighted in the report that the behaviour was serious and the chance of repetition was high, given the timeframe and number of incidents.

A removal order was found to be the most “appropriate” sanction in order to maintain “trust and confidence in the social service profession”.

The removal order came into effect on December 31, 2024.
