A woman has died after getting into difficulty while kayaking in the Highlands.
The Coastguard was called at around 11.07am on Tuesday after the woman reportedly fell into the water at Loch Torridon.
A major emergency services response was prompted on land, sea, and air.
Three coastguard teams, the Stornoway coastguard helicopter Portree RNLI all-weather lifeboat, and Kyle of Lochalsh RNLI inshore lifeboat all attended the scene.
The woman was recovered at around 12.30pm and taken onboard Portree lifeboat, before being flown to hospital by air ambulance, the coastguard said.
However the force confirmed she died at the scene.
A police spokesman said: “Around 12.05pm on Tuesday, 17 May 2022, police received a report of concern for a kayaker on Loch Torridon, near Shieldaig.
“Officers assisted HM Coastguard in tracing the woman, who was recovered but later died at the scene.
“Her next of kin have been informed and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
