A woman murdered in a Highland home has been named as a man appears in court charged in connection.

Police were called to Morrison Court in Dornoch around 4.40pm on Saturday. The body of Naomi MacIvor was discovered inside.

Her family has said they will “never get over losing” the “loving mother”.

Their statement read: “Naomi was a loving mother, auntie, daughter and grand-daughter.

“She was a friend to everyone. We will never get over losing her. She was taken far too early for such a bright spirit. We shall miss her for forever and love her eternally.

“The family have asked for privacy to grieve at this difficult time.”

Daniel Sutherland appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday, where he was charged with murder. The 34-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody.

He will appear before the court within eight days.
