A man has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder his mother by repeatedly stabbing her on the head and body in Sutherland.
Struan Fraser allegedly attacked the woman at his home on Carnmhor Road and in the street in Bonar Bridge on July 17.
It is alleged that he assaulted the 50-year-old woman, pursued her, repeatedly struck her on the head and body with a knife, causing her to fall to the ground.
The 24-year-old is further accused of repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a knife while she lay on the ground.
Fraser’s lawyer made no application for bail and instructed that he would undergo a mental health assessment.
He is expected to appear again within the next eight days.
