A man was airlifted to hospital following a serious multi-vehicle crash which closed a major road in the Highlands on Wednesday morning for several hours.
Three vehicles were involved in the incident which occurred on the A9 in Sutherland, a short distance south of Portgower shortly after 7.45am on September 21.
The 36-year-old male driver of a red Renault Megane suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A 32-year-old male passenger from a white Mercedes Sprinter van was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment to serious injuries and has since been discharged.
The driver of the van was uninjured.
The other vehicle involved was a white Vauxhall Vivaro van and both the driver and passenger were uninjured.
The road reopened around 2.10pm after an investigation at the scene.
Sergeant Ally Mackay from the Highland and Islands road policing unit said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles on the road prior to the crash or who may have dashcam footage.
“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 0466 of September 21.”
