A man has appeared at court after heroin and cocaine worth £125,000 was seized from a van at ferry terminal in Shetland.

Marc Kerr, from Glasgow, faces two charges of the misuse of drugs act.

The 31-year-old has been committed for further examination and granted bail ahead of another appearance at Inverness Sheriff Court.

At around 7.30am on Friday, officers stopped a vehicle at the ferry terminal in Lerwick and recovered around 1.3kg of Heroin with an estimated street value of £65.000 and around 512g of Cocaine, worth an estimated street value of £64,000.

Detective Inspector Calum Reid, said: “This recovery highlights our continued commitment in Shetland to disrupting drug activity and supply within our communities.
