A man has died and two men have been arrested after three were found injured on a road in Inverness.
Emergency services were called to Balloan Road at around 8.25am on Friday after police were alerted to the discovery.
Two men were taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service and another man made his own way to hospital for treatment.
One of the men was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital. The two other men, aged 21 and 38, received treatment for minor injuries and have since been discharged.
They have both been arrested in connection with the death and enquiries remain ongoing.
STV NewsBalloan Road remains closed between Balloan Court and Morvich Way while investigations are carried out and the public is asked to avoid the area.
Detective Chief Inspector John Lumsden said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.
“Officers continue to carry out extensive enquiries at this time so there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
“We understand this will be a concerning incident for the local community and would encourage anyone with concerns to approach local officers or call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0632 of 9 January, 2025.”
