A man has died after taking unwell during a golf tournament in the Highlands.
Stevie McIntosh was at the Stewart Taylor Gents Open in Inverness on Saturday when an ambulance was called just before 1pm.
Emergency services attended Carrbridge Golf Club but the 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Kings Golf Club, where McIntosh worked, said: “The management committee, staff and members of the Kings Golf Club are devastated by the sudden passing of Stevie McIntosh, our head greenkeeper.
“Stevie was an integral part of the team at the club and will be deeply missed.
“Highly regarded in the greenkeeping community, Stevie was also a fabulous amateur golfer, who won several prestigious events in his time.
“He was a great friend to those who knew him both inside and outside of the golfing world.
“Our condolences are with all of Stevie’s family and close friends.”
Inverness Caledonian Thistle paid tribute to the golfer, tweeting: “Everyone at ICTFC was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of Kings GC head groundskeeper Stevie McIntosh.
“Stevie was a good friend to the club and in particular to our academy.
“He will be sorely missed and our deep condolences go to his family, loved ones and colleagues.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a man having taken unwell on Inverness Road, Carrbridge, around 12.55pm on Saturday.
“Emergency services attended and a 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
