A man was found dead on Thursday, three days after leaving a hotel in the Highlands for a walk.

The 52-year-old man was found close to the cycle path just south of the Ballachullish roundabout at around 10.25am.

Investigators believe the man left the Ballachullish Hotel at around 8.30pm on Monday with the intention of walking south along the footpath alongside the A82.

The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious. His next of kin is aware.

Detective Inspector Bilton said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

“Enquiries are at an early stage and we are appealing for the help of the public to establish the last movements of the man as he made his way from the Ballachulish Hotel.

“I would urge anyone who was driving on the A82 around this time to think back – did you see someone in the area?

“I am asking anyone with dash-cam footage to from this time to get in touch.”

Those with any information are urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 1113 of Thursday, November 6, 2025.
