Man rescued from Beauly Firth by passing boat after Inverness Mayday alert

A man was rescued from the water in Inverness early on Friday morning, after coastguard teams received a Mayday alert.

Emergency crews were called to the Beauly Firth, near Kessock Bridge, at around 7.45am on July 14 to reports of concern for a person.

Coastguard rescue teams from Inverness and Cromarty, a lifeboat from Inverness, the coastguard helicopter from Inverness, Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service were dispatched.

The man was rescued safely by a passing boat, transferred to a lifeboat and returned to shore.

His condition is currently unknown.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a person in the Beauly Firth around 7.50am on Friday, July 14.

“The man was recovered safely by a passing boat. He was transferred to a lifeboat and returned to shore and passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

A spokesperson for the Coastguard said: “HM Coastguard has been responding to reports of a person in water near Kessock Bridge in Inverness.

“Following a Mayday alert from a vessel passing through the area at around 7.45am, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Inverness and Cromarty, a lifeboat from Inverness and the Coastguard helicopter from Inverness were sent to the scene.

“The casualty was recovered by a nearby vessel and the Coastguard helicopter conducted further searches with nothing else found. Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service are also in attendance.”
