Officers were called to the scene of the crash that happened on the A846 between the airport and Bowmore at around 8.25am.
The crash involved a motorbike and van.
Police said the motorcyclist, a 28-year-old man, has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Drivers have been warned to expect the road to remain closed for some time.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The A846, Isle of Islay is closed between the airport and Bowmore following a crash involving a van and a motorbike which happened around 8.25am.
“The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old man, has been taken to hospital for treatment.
“The road is expected to be closed for some time.”
