More than 30 cats have been discovered at a home in the Western Isles following the death of their owner.
The cats range in age from six months to very elderly and were mostly found to be in good health although some require vet treatment.
Western Isles Support for Cats and Kittens (WISCK) were contacted by a neighbour who had been feeding the pets.
The organisation said that the majority of the cats were not neutered and some could be expecting kittens.
WISCK urged people to donate to help neuter the pets, with a view to rehoming them at a later date.
WISCK vice chairwoman Karen Cowan said: “This is going to be an absolutely huge undertaking for us and will stretch our resources to the absolute limit.
“Some of the cats will already be pregnant, with kitten season due to begin any time.”
