A man has died following a crash between a motorbike and a car in the Highlands.

The 51-year-old’s Ducati collided with a red MG on the A82 near the village of Invermoriston shortly after 12pm on Tuesday, July 19.

Emergency crews rushed to the area, while officers shut the road down for more than seven hours during an initial probe, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured in the incident and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has now been launched.

A 120-mile detour had been in place for motorists attempting to pass the area, although the road was reopened shortly after 7pm.

Police Scotland have appealed for anyone with any information to come forward and are particularly asking for those with dashboard-mounted cameras to come forward and share their footage with officers.

Sergeant David Miller, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time.

“I would ask anyone who saw the vehicles immediately prior to the crash to come forward. I would also ask anyone who with dash-cam footage who was in the area around the time of the crash to check their footage and provide anything relevant to us as soon as possible.

“Those with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1362 of July 19.”
