A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a car in Caithness.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision on the A99 at Blackness near Mid Clyth on Thursday.
The rider of the black Honda CBF motorbike, a 30-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred around 8pm and the road was closed while crash investigations were carried out.
It reopened to drivers around 3am.
The 74-year-old female driver of the car, a yellow Seat Ibiza, was not hurt.
Investigations into the circumstances are still ongoing and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Road Policing sergeant Neil MacDonald said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died. Officers are offering them support and will continue to do so throughout our investigation.
“I’m keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened, saw the vehicles prior to the crash or drivers with dash cam footage of the area around the time.
“Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference 3759 of August 17.”
