A stretcher had to be called for a dog that was unable to move on Ben Nevis.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team came to the aid of Maggie, a 35kg Akbash dog on Saturday.

Maggie had been on the Ben path but found herself unable to move because she had sore paws.

A stretcher party was dispatched to help rescue Maggie, along with a casualty carer.

Chicken stick treats were also utilised in the operation, with Maggie secured to the stretcher before being transported back down the hill where she was able to rest.

In a Facebook post, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team added: “Big thanks for Rescue 151 who assisted through the day, and to Wolfhouse Gym for the much needed sandwiches!

“Donations to LMRT can be made through our JustGiving page at – https://www.justgiving.com/lmrt/donate – chicken sticks and chew toys also accepted!”
