A Scottish mountain rescue team has urged climbers to ensure they have proper equipment after a challenging operation.
Two climbers became stranded on Stuc a Chroin in winter conditions on Sunday.
The Killin Mountain Rescue team received the call, attended to the pair, and successfully helped them off the mountain.
The casualties thankfully had the proper equipment to keep warm while awaiting rescue; however, the team cautioned against using improper climbing gear.
They stressed the importance of using crampons, not microspikes, which are unsuited to the conditions of Scotland’s mountains.
Killin Mountain Rescue said: “Another challenging rescue last night, this time on Stuc a Chroin.
“Our team successfully brought to safety two stranded climbers in full winter conditions. Thankfully the pair were well-equipped and able to stay warm whilst awaiting rescue.
“Whilst Scotland may not have winters like it used to, the mountains are still holding snow and ice that prove difficult to traverse.
“We want to take this opportunity to emphasise the importance of proper winter gear. We’ve seen a concerning trend of microspike use instead of crampons.
“Microspikes are not designed for the conditions currently facing most of Scotland’s mountains.
“For your safety, please use crampons and ice axes, and possess the necessary winter skills for winter mountaineering”.
