A driver has been seriously injured after a crash on the A9.
The man’s Honda Integra left the carriageway in the single-vehicle collision in the Highlands on Monday afternoon.
The driver, who was in the car alone, was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where his condition has been described as serious.
The southbound road between Raigmore and Inshes in Inverness has been closed for investigation works to take place.
Traffic Scotland warned at 7.20pm: “The road is likely to remain closed for some time.”
Diversions have been put in place.
Enquiries into the crash are continuing.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 4.05pm on Monday, July 13, police and emergency services were called to a single-vehicle road crash on the southbound carriageway of the A9 at Inshes, Inverness.
“One vehicle, a white Honda Integra, left the carriageway.
“The male driver, who was alone in the car, was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where medical staff describe his condition as serious.
“Enquires into the crash are continuing and the A9 southbound is shut between Raigmore Interchange and Inshes flyover.
“The road remains closed to allow officers to carry out their enquiries.”
