Police cordon off home and part of canal after 'unexplained' death of man

Officers are investigating the 'sudden death' of he 36-year-old in the St Ninian Drive area of Inverness.

Police are treating the death of a man at a home in Inverness as “unexplained”.

Officers cordoned off the home in the St Ninian Drive area of the city in the early hours of Sunday following reports of the “sudden death” of a 36-year-old man within.

Access to part of the nearby Caledonian Canal was also restricted while officers carried out an initial investigation.

Police Scotland said personnel remain at the scene pending a post-mortem investigation.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 12.10am on Sunday, November 12, police were called to a property in the St Ninian Drive area of Inverness, following the sudden death of a 36-year-old man.

“The death is being treated as unexplained pending a post-mortem examination.

“Officers remain at the scene and additionally by the nearby Caledonian Canal, as inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.”
