An investigation has been launched after a person died when the car they were driving left the road in Inverness.
The car left the carriageway of the B851 shortly after 11.20am on Wednesday, October 2.
The circumstances of the incident have been referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).
Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing and have not released any further details.
A spokesperson for the PIRC said: “We have received and are currently assessing a referral from Police Scotland in relation to an incident on the B851 near Daviot on Wednesday, October 2 2024.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 11.24am on Wednesday, October 2, Operations Control mobilised three appliances to assist emergency service partners at a car fire on the B851 near Daviot, where sadly one person died.”
