A 67-year-old motorcyclist died in hospital three days after the collision on the A862 near Beauly.

Police are to close a road to carry out further investigation into a fatal three-vehicle crash in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the A862 near Beauly at the junction with the A833 at around 11.05am on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

The crash involved a black Mazda CX5 car and two Yamaha MT07 motorcycles.

One of the motorcyclists, named as 67-year-old Gilbert Duncan from Avoch, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he died three days later.

The 47-year-old male driver of the car was arrested in connection with road traffic offences. He was released pending further enquiries.

Police will intermittently close the A862 at Ballindoun by Beauly at the junction for the A833 towards Kiltarlity for about an hour around 3.30pm on Thursday to conduct further investigation.

A statement read: “We apologise in advance for any delays and road users are thanked for their patience.”
