iStockTrains have been cancelled in the Highlands after a collision between a ScotRail service and a car on a level-crossing.
The incident took place on the line between Inverness and Nairn around 1.30pm on Tuesday.
No one was injured, but ScotRail cancelled trains between Aberdeen and Inverness.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a level-crossing near Inverness after reports that a car had been struck by a train.
“Thankfully, no one has been injured. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing, and no trains are running through the location while the vehicle is recovered and the line is assessed.”
Updating customers on Twitter, ScotRail wrote: “Due to a road accident at a level-crossing between Inverness and Nairn the line is closed.”
Passengers were allowed to use their tickets on Stagecoach North buses between Aberdeen and Inverness.
