Police are carrying out extensive searches to trace a 41-year-old man from Surrey who has gone missing after travelling to Scotland.

Eugen Comanescu was last seen around 7.30am on Monday, 3 November, in Surrey.

Concerns for his welfare are growing after his car, a silver Vauxhall Corsa, was discovered in a remote area between Pitagowan and Dalwhinnie in the Scottish Highlands at around 10pm on Friday, November 7.

Mr Comanescu is described as being around 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build, with short dark-blond hair. It is believed he may be wearing a dark grey jacket, dark trousers, and dark shoes.

Inspector Susan Cook of Police Scotland said: “It is unusual for Eugen not to be in contact with his family, and as time passes concerns are growing for his welfare.

“Following the discovery of his car, extensive searches are being carried out in the area. We would urge anyone who has seen Eugen, or who has any information on his whereabouts, to contact us.

“In particular, we are appealing to hillwalkers and anyone in the local area to look out for anyone matching his description.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 3193 of Monday, 3 November, 2025.
