A skier has died in hospital after being rescued from the Nevis Range in the Highlands.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident near Torlundy at around 2pm on Tuesday.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment, where he died from his injuries on Wednesday.

Police Scotland said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The skier was among six people rescued from around Ben Nevis on Tuesday.

The other rescues, carried out by Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, involved a well-equipped walker who felt unable to proceed while descending the mountain, a pair of climbers who became stuck on Tower Ridge, a challenging winter climb on the north face, and another pair of climbers stuck on the west face of Aonach Mor.

The Coastguard helicopter R851 was able to rescue the pair from Aonach Mor but they were unable to access the other casualties amid challenging flying conditions.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, we received a report of a man injured in the Nevis Range area near Torlundy.

“Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to hospital where he later died on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

“There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The Nevis Range and Coastguard has been contacted for comment.
