A male snow leopard cub has been put to sleep after being diagnosed with an incurable bone condition.
Indra was born alongside his sister Tama at Highland Wildlife Park back in June this year.
They were born to mum Pari and dad Koshi, and were described by keepers as “double trouble”.
However, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) has announced the sad passing of Indra, who was just a few months old.
According to RZSS, keepers had been monitoring Indra since he started to develop a limp, which turned out to be a bone condition.
The RZSS said: “Our dedicated keeper and veterinary teams had been monitoring him following the development of a limp.
“After extensive medical examinations and specialist assessments, it was confirmed that Indra had an incurable bone condition which would have a significant negative impact on his quality of life.
“After careful consideration, the difficult decision was made to put Indra to sleep.
“Indra was born alongside his twin sister Tama at Highland Wildlife Park in June.
“He was a joy to watch grow and will be greatly missed by us all. Our thoughts are with our colleagues who were involved in his care.”
