A walker was stranded and forced to spend the night in a collapsed tent after Storm Bert hit Scotland.

The man had become stuck on the path to Shenavall bothy south of Dundonnell in Ross and Cromarty in the Highlands on Friday night.

Storm Bert brought 70mph winds and widespread snow and ice.

The following morning, three members of the Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team were called out to rescue him

The team made their way through “atrocious weather” but were able to quickly locate the walker on the track above Corrie Hallie car park.

“He was quickly assessed and taken back to our Dundonnell base where he was warmed up,” a spokesperson for the Mountain Rescue Team said.

The walker was then transported to Ullapool to “spend a night in a warm hotel bed”.

“When planning to head into the mountains, it’s always advisable to check the weather forecast before heading out,” the Mountain Rescue Team said.
