A suspect has been charged after a cocaine haul worth more than £19,000 was seized by police.

Officers recovered the drugs following a raid on a property in Orkney’s Grimeston Road on Thursday afternoon.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He has since been released and will appear in court at a later date.

Detective sergeant Marcus Shearer, of Kirkwall CID, said: “Drug misuse brings nothing but misery to our communities and I want to reassure the public that we will continue to use every tool and tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from our streets.
