A teenage driver has died following a collision between a car and a lorry on the A9. 

The incident took place shortly after 6am on Friday morning near Dalmagarry in the Highlands. 

The 18-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

His next of kin have been made aware.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured following the incident. 

The road was closed until around 11.15pm and enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the crash remain ongoing.

Sergeant David Miller, from the Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: “At this time, our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by this incident.”
