A viral TikTok trainspotter has declared he “loves the Highlands” after spending the night in an old signal box at the UK’s most remote station.
Francis Bourgeois, who has more than three million followers, gained popularity after sharing his love for trains and videos of himself trainspotting across the world.
He visited Glasgow to bid farewell to the city’s iconic 43-year-old Subway fleet as it was taken out of service last year.
The model and author shared on social media that he explored Corrour on the West Highland Line, near Loch Ossian, which is the UK’s most remote train station.
The station was made famous when it appeared in the classic 1996 film Trainspotting starring Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle.
The video has been liked by more than 200,000 users with Trainspotting actor Jonny Lee Miller commenting: “Looks familiar”.
Also the highest railway station in the UK, Bourgeois spent the night in the former signal box and ate at the Station House restaurant.
In a video captioned, “I am officially in love with the Scottish Highlands”, he explored the station and was shocked to find the Caledonian Sleeper train to London runs through it.
He said: “The party piece of this accommodation has to be the living room where the lever frame used to be, with three hundred and sixty-degree views of the railway.
“It’s amazing to think someone actually used to live in this signal box, while operating it.”
He added: “It’s crazy to think you can close your eyes in such a remote place like this and wake up in London.”
The trainspotter also took a journey on the famous Jacobite steam train last week, popular with fans of the Harry Potter franchise.
