Two men who died after a vehicle left the road and plunged into the River Garry are believed to have lay undiscovered overnight.
Emergency services were called to the A87 road after 8am near the Invergarry Hotel on Friday morning.
A red Ford Focus was found in the River Garry and two men, aged 27 and 31, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their next of kin are aware and are being supported by police.
Police said that the incident is believed to have happened around 11pm on Thursday, May 23.
The road was closed for around six hours while investigations were carried out.
An appeal has been launched for information and anyone who may have seen the car or the men prior to the crash are asked to get in touch with police.
Sergeant Ewan Calder said: “Our investigation into this incident is ongoing whilst we try to establish the full circumstances.
“We are appealing to anyone that may have seen the red Ford Focus, or the two men, prior to the crash. Our enquiries so far have established they were in the Fort Augustus area.
“We would also ask members of the public to check their dashcam or private CCTV footage and please get in touch if it holds anything relevant.
