Two people have been rushed to hospital after a three-vehicle crash in the Highlands.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Portgower near Helmsdale on the A9 on Wednesday morning after a van and two cars collided.
Police, ambulance crews and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were all called to the road around 7.45am.
Two men have been taken to hospital.
The road is currently closed in both directions with Traffic Scotland issuing updates to drivers.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance following a crash involving three vehicles on the A9 near to Helmsdale. Two men have been taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for the SFRS added: “We were alerted at 7.47am on Wednesday, September 21 to reports of a road traffic collision on the A9 near Helmsdale involving two cars and a van.
“Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene to assist emergency service partners.
“Two casualties were handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
