Two people have died after a crash on a major road in the Highlands.
The incident, involving a white Land Rover Defender, took place on the A9 in Caithness at around 11.40am on Tuesday, November 29.
A 46-year-old man who was driving the vehicle and a 50-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Achavanich north of Latheron.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
The road was closed until around 9.30pm to allow for an investigation at the scene to be carried out.
Sergeant Calum MacAulay, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, made an appeal for information.
“Our thoughts are with the families and friends of both people who have died in this incident,” he said.
“We are working to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision and I would urge anyone who may have information to come forward.
“We would be keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the Land Rover on the road prior to the incident or who may have dashcam footage from the area.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1064 of November 29.”
