The UK’s only male European forest reindeer has returned to the Highland Wildlife Park where he was born.
Solen was born at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s (RZSS) Highland Wildlife Park in 2020 before being moved to Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire in 2022.
He has now returned to the RZSS site, where he will live with female European forest reindeer Freya and Lumi.
RZSSKeepers at the wildlife conservation charity hope Solen and the two females will breed, helping to boost numbers of the vulnerable species.
Solen can be spotted at the Highland Wildlife Park’s Wolf Wood.
