Vespa driver in serious condition in hospital following collision with car

A moped driver has been left seriously injured after being involved in a crash with a car in Inverness.

The 37-year-old man was travelling south on the B861, Culduthel Road, on a green Piaggio Vespa when a collision with a VW Touareg occurred around 5pm on March 17.

He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as “serious but stable”.

The 64-year-old male driver of the car didn’t require medical treatment.

The road was closed to allow scene investigators to conduct enquiries are the scene. 

Sergeant Douglas Scott said: “I am appealing to any other road users who were on Culduthel Road around the time of the collision last night to contact us. If anyone has dash cam equipment, please check it as the footage could assist in our investigation into how this collision occurred.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2421 of March 17, 2024.
