A woman was airlifted to hospital after a car crashed off a road in the Highlands and into a ditch.

Emergency services were called after a car crashed off the A830 carriageway and landed in a ditch near to the Locheilside Train junction at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The grey Toyota Rav4 Excel involved in the crash was from Fort William towards Mallaig at the time of the incident.

The passenger in the car, a 34-year-old female, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.

The 39-year-old male driver was taken by ambulance to Belford Hospital in Fort William.

The road was closed for investigation and reopened at 3.45pm.

Constable Gabriel Cameron at Fort William Road Policing Unit would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this crash or anyone who has captured it on their dashcam.
