A woman has died at the scene of a single vehicle crash in the Highlands.
Emergency services were called to the A9 near Inshes, Inverness, at around 1.40am on Friday.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
Enquiries remain ongoing at this time.
The A9 southbound was re-opened at around 2.45pm.
A spokesperson said: “Around 1.40am on Friday, December 20, we were called to a report of a one-vehicle crash on the A9 near Inshes, Inverness.
”Emergency services attended and a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries.”
