A woman is accused of trying to kill members of her family with medication they allegedly did not need.

Amy Louise Gillies is said to have attempted to murder her mother, grandparents and uncle during incidents in the Inner Hebrides between April and June 2024.

Prosecutors state the 26-year-old did “administer medication” outside the required dosage to her mum.

It is claimed she also gave medicine to the other three relatives that was “not prescribed”.

This is said to be Amitriptyline – used for pain relief and also as an antidepressant – as well as muscle relaxant Baclofen.

The indictment claims the effects of on the family members included reduced consciousness, slurred speech, dizziness, confusion, drowsiness and what is described as “facial asymmetry”.

It is alleged they ended up in hospital and were subjected to “unnecessary medical investigations and procedures”.

The attempted murder accusation states this was to their impairment, injury and danger of their lives.

Gillies faces a separate charge of stealing medication called Hydrazine Hydrochloride – intended for an elderly woman – from a pharmacy in the Isle of Skye.

The case called for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday.

Lorenzo Alonzi, defending, said: “Ms Gillies pleads not guilty. We are ready to fix a trial.”

Lord Mulholland went on to fix a date, and the case is scheduled to start on May 5, 2027, in Edinburgh.

The case could last up to six days.

Gillies, of Inverness, remains on bail meantime.
