A90 partially closed for more than 18 hours following body discovery

A body was discovered near the busy dual carriageway on Wednesday during the search for Kenneth Unsworth, who was reported missing from Liverpool.

The A90 remains partially closed more than 18 hours after a body was found amid the search for a missing man from Merseyside.

Kenneth Unsworth was last seen on November 20, leaving the town of Huyton near Liverpool.

Officers believed he had travelled north to Tayside or Aberdeenshire. On Wednesday, officers were alerted to the discovery of a body near the dual carriageway between Brechin and Laurencekirk at around 12.20pm.

Formal identification is yet to take place, however, the 46-year-old’s family has been informed.

An investigation into the death is still ongoing and detectives are currently treating the incident as unexplained.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
