Police close road as part of investigation into crash that killed pedestrian

The A96 was partially closed on Friday as part of an investigation into a crash which left a man dead last month.

Gordon Smith, a 76-year-old pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash involving a blue Ford Fiesta on the A96 near Colpy on February 21.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old woman, was uninjured.

Officers returned to the scene of the incident on Friday to carry out further enquiries.

The A96 was shut between Kellockbank and Culsalmond and reopened after one hour.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “This relates to ongoing enquiries in respect of a fatal road crash on the A96 near Colpy on Friday, February 21, 2025.”
