A road on the A96 in Aberdeenshire has been closed in both directions after a car burst into flames.
Traffic Scotland confirmed the major road outside Inverurie was fully closed after 9am on Tuesday following a vehicle fire.
Images from the scene showed a car on fire in the middle of the road, with snow and ice surrounding the carriageway.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said there were no reported casualties after crews were called at around 8.48am.
Police Scotland and the road’s operator are said to be on the scene.
The incident comes amid a fresh Met Office warning issued on Wednesday for snow and ice across Aberdeenshire, Moray, the Highlands and Islands, Argyll and Bute and North Ayrshire.
Travel disruption is expected as the warning runs from 10am on Wednesday until midday on Thursday.
Traffic Scotland said on X: “The A96 at Inverurie is currently closed in both directions due to a vehicle fire.
“Traffic is being diverted locally.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 8.48am on Wednesday, November 20 to reports of a car on fire at the A96, north of Inverurie.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one car.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
