A man is fighting for his life after suffering a “violent” bleed on his brain while at home in Aberdeen.

Babatunde Bello, 30, suffered a seizure on Wednesday, November 5, while at home with his wife, who performed CPR to keep him alive.

Mr Bello, who works for Scottish Water, was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for surgery.

He remains heavily sedated while doctors perform tests on his brain, but he has shown signs of brain activity.

The extent of the damage, however, remains unknown. It is understood a blood vessel burst in his brain.

His colleague, Andy Duguid, has launched a fundraiser in the hope of raising £6,500 to help support Mr Bello and his wife, who works as a full-time live-in carer.

The couple moved to Scotland around four years ago.

Over £1,000 has already been raised, and Mr Bello is also being supported by his employer Scottish Water.

Andy told STV News: “He is the epitome of nice. He’s a lovable character, kind, honest and hard-working, and he loves it here in Scotland.

“He has overcome all the obstacles to make himself a life here for him and his wife.

“For this to happen to someone so young and fit, it’s a big shock. I saw him in the hospital, and it took me aback a bit.”
