Restaurant owners in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire have been urged to come forward after a large quantity of cooking oil was recovered on Wednesday.

Officers stopped a van on the A92 near Newtonhill at around 10.15am and recovered the alleged stolen oil.

Two men aged 29 and 19 have been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.

Police Scotland has asked for restaurants in the north-east to contact the force if they had oil stolen overnight.

Constable Daniel Baird of the Road Policing Unit said: “I would appeal to restaurant owners who have had cooking oil stolen overnight between Tuesday, June 3, and Wednesday, June 4, to get in touch with us.

“You can contact us on 101, quoting incident number 1186 of June 4, 2025.”
