A road in Aberdeen has reopened after two women were taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash.

Emergency services were called to the B979, between Fintry and Blackburn, at around 2.40pm on Wednesday after a collision involving a black Vauxhall Mokka and a black Vauxhall Corsa.

The drivers of both cars, both female, aged 42 and 53, were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Their conditions have been described as serious.

Police said the road was closed for around seven hours to allow for investigations to take place and re-opened around 10pm on Wednesday.

Sergeant Peter Henderson said: “An investigation into the collision is under way and I am appealing to any road users who were in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.

“Perhaps you passed or saw one of the vehicles prior to the collision. If you have dash cam, it may have captured images which could assist with our ongoing inquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1956 of March 12, 2025.
