A secondary school in Aberdeenshire is to remain closed on Wednesday after a gas leak was detected.
Parents of children who attend Mackie Academy were notified via email on Tuesday that a leak had been discovered.
Repairs are scheduled to be carried out at the premises on Wednesday, which will result in the school being without hot water and heating.
The school’s S5 and S6 parents’ evening has also been cancelled as a result of the gas leak.
A further update regarding whether the school will reopen on Thursday will be issued by the local authority.
A spokesperson from Aberdeenshire Council said: “We have been informed this evening that a gas leak has been detected at Mackie Academy and, as a result, repairs tomorrow will result in the school having no heating or hot water.
“Therefore, the school will be closed to everyone on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.”
