Casualty airlifted to hospital as two hurt following A90 crash

Police urged drivers to avoid the area while diversions have been put in place.

One person has been airlifted to hospital and a second has been taken to hospital by ambulance following a collision on the A90.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the two-vehicle crash near Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire, at 10.20am on Wednesday.

The ambulance service dispatched multiple vehicles to the scene.

Both carriageways were closed; however, one lane was reopened on the northbound route. The southbound remains closed as investigation work is carried out.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.22am to attend a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A90 near Laurencekirk.

“We dispatched two ambulances, three special operations response teams, a trauma team, and one air ambulance to the scene.

“One patient was transported to Ninewells Hospital by road and one patient was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance.”

Following the collision, the road between Laurencekirk and North Water Bridge was closed. Drivers have been urged to avoid the area and diversions have been put in place.

A Police Scotland statement read: “The A90 near Laurencekirk is closed in both directions following a two-vehicle crash at 10.20am on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

“The road is closed between Laurencekirk and North Water Bridge.

“Local diversions are in place and motorists should avoid the area if possible.”
