Armed officers called to shopping centre after 'man seen with knife'

Armed officers were called to a shopping centre in Aberdeen after a man was allegedly spotted carrying a knife.

Officers, including firearms specialists, were alerted to the incident within Union Square at around 2.20pm on Sunday.

A 55-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the alleged knife incident. He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.20pm on Sunday, May 10, 2026, we received a report of a man seen in possession of a knife in the Guild Square area of Aberdeen.

“Officers and specialist resources attended, and a 55-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, May 11, 2026.”
