Man taken to hospital following 'firearm' incident at ferry terminal

A suspect has been arrested after an incident with a ‘firearm’ at a ferry terminal on the Isle of Bute left a man in hospital with head injuries.

Police were called to West Pier in Rothesay at around 11am on Friday, after receiving reports that a 47-year-old man suffered a head injury while in his vehicle.

A firearm may have been used in the crime, STV News understands.

Emergency services took the man to Victoria Hospital for treatment, and he has since been released.

Officers confirmed that a 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident as enquiries continue.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a man with an injury to his head within a vehicle at the ferry terminal at West Pier in Rothesay around 11am on Friday, October 14.

“The 47-year-old man was taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

“A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

“The incident is believed to have been contained and there is no risk to the wider public.”
