The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is taking place this week at three Scottish golf courses – St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.

In a twist from standard golf competitions, the event sees professionals team up with an amateur partner – many of whom come from the worlds of entertainment and other sports.

An annual firm favourite with fans is the Ghostbusters actor Bill Murray, who will be making his eighth appearance.

Other confirmed celebrities who’ll be seen swinging their clubs from Thursday to Sunday include:

Tom Chaplin

The singer for the rock bank Keane is making his fifth appearance at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Dave Farrell

Bass player with the American rock group Linkin Park. Last year, he said he had to borrow fishing overalls after learning “weather resistant” does not always mean “waterproof”.

Ronan Keating

Boyzone star Keating is making his 11th appearance at the event. The Irishman once led the competition at the halfway stage alongside professional partner Graeme Storm.

Huey Lewis

The Huey Lewis and the News frontman is a regular on the Scottish links, having appeared 14 times. He told the event’s official website that he once holed from the Road Hole bunker… by throwing the ball.

Mark Noble

The recently retired footballer was the captain of West Ham United. He boasts an incredible penalty conversation rate, and will be hoping to prove just as clinical with the putter.

Kathryn Newton

The Big Little Lies actress is making her debut. She could have been a pro golfer, regularly tasting success on the course before getting her big break in entertainment.

Sir Steve Redgrave

One of the greatest Olympians of all time, the rower won golds at five consecutive Games from 1984 to 2000.

Mike Rutherford

One of the founding members of the legendary rock bank Genesis, he went on to front Mike and the Mechanics.

Tico Torres

The renowned Bon Jovi drummer is making his 16th appearance at the competition. He told the event website that golf champion Ernie Els once said to him: “Tico, for a drummer you have the worst timing in the world.”

Gianfranco Zola

The legendary Italian footballer is best known in the UK for his spectacular stint at Chelsea. Apparently, he once drove out of bounds on the first hole at St Andrews.
