A body has been found in the search for a missing elderly woman who disappeared overnight in Aberdeenshire.
Police confirmed that the body of a woman was found around 6:45pm on Wednesday in the Portlethen area.
A formal identification of the body has yet to take place but police confirmed the family of Norma Reid have been made aware of the discovery.
The 80-year-old had not been heard from since 5pm on Tuesday, November 7 and was last seen in the Dunvegan Crescent area of Portlethen.
Police said that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report is to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.45pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the body of a woman was discovered in the Portlethen area of Aberdeenshire.
“Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of missing woman Norma Reid has been informed.
“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
